A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed53 were tasked to a RTC at 09:35 and were on scene at 09:45. Landing in a park, the crew assisted EMAS to treat the injured patient, before they were transported to hospital for ongoing care.
Helimed54 were tasked to a RTC at 16:29 and were on scene at 16:39. Landing in a nearby park, the crew assisted EMAS to treat the injured patient, conveying them to hospital by land.
G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team SoNAR to transfer an incubator patient in just 34 mins. The same journey by road would have taken 2 hour 2 mins.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency at 12:46 and were on scene at 12:59. Landing in an industrial estate, the crew worked alongside multiple other services to treat the patient, transporting them to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 11:01 and were on scene at 11:12. Landing in a nearby farmers field, the crew provided advanced critical care, before transporting them to hospital for ongoing care.
Helimed54 were tasked to a sporting incident at 15:33 and were on scene at 15:54. Landing in a nearby field, the crew treated the injured patient, conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a RTC at 18:09 and were on scene at 18:26. The crew assisted EMAS to assess a patient, before they were transported to hospital by EMAS.
Medic54 were tasked to an RTC at 22:08 and were on scene at 22:45. Working alongside other services, the crew treated an injured patient before conveying them to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to an RTC at 16:14 and were on scene at 16:28. Landing in a field nearby, the crew worked with multiple other services to treat two patients. Thankfully enhanced care was not needed at scene, and both were transferred to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC at 11:29 and were on scene at 11:45. Landing in a nearby field, the crew worked alongside other services to treat two patients, both of whom were transferred to hospital by land.
G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team SONAR in the South to transfer an incubator patient and their parent in just 1hr 6mins. The same journey by road would have taken 3hrs 36mins.
Helimed53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 15:28 and were on scene at 15:35. Landing in a nearby park, the crew treated a patient, using advanced care skills and returning their spontaneous circulation, before conveying them to hospital by land.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
