A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic53 were tasked to an RTC at 04:44 and were on scene at 05:07. Working alongside multiple other services, the crew treated an injured patient using critical care interventions before conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to an RTC at 18:32 and were on scene at 19:04. Working alongside multiple other services, the crew treated a patient with leg injuries before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 09:19 and were on scene at 19:39. Working alongside EMAS, the crew provided advanced critical care interventions to treat the patient, before conveying them to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 11:06 and were on scene at 11:20. Landing on a sports field, the crew treated a patient before they were conveyed to hospital by land.
G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team Embrace in the North to transfer an incubator patient and their parent in just 58mins. The same journey by road would have taken 3hrs 41mins.
Medic53 were tasked to an RTC at 20:05 and were on scene at 20:34. Working alongside multiple other services, the crew treated an injured patient, before transferring them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a trauma at 08:48 and were on scene at 09:00. Landing in a field, the crew worked alongside other services, the crew treated an injured patient before they were transferred to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a patient with burns at 14:08 and were on scene at 14:25. Landing in a nearby field, the crew worked alongside multiple other services to treat the patient, before airlifting them to hospital.
G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team SONAR in the North to transfer an incubator patient in just 1hr 14mins. The same journey by road would have taken 4hrs 35mins.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency at 09:07 and were on scene at 09:48. Landing in a park, the crew assisted EMAS to assess a patient, before they were transported to hospital by EMAS.
Helimed53 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 12:16 and were on scene at 12:35. Landing in a nearby park, the crew treated the injured patient, before conveying them to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to a sporting trauma at 18:06 and were on scene at 18:24. Landing in a park, the crew treated a patient before airlifting them to hospital.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
