A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Medic53 were tasked to an RTC at 22:22 and were on scene at 22:39. The crew assessed a patient before conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 19:09 and were on scene at 19:35. The crew treated the patent, before conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency at 21:50 and were on scene at 22:00. Working alongside WMAS, the crew treated the patient, before they were transferred to hospital by land.
G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team Watch in the South to transfer a patient in just 50mins. The same journey by road would have taken 2hrs 27mins.
G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team Embrace in the North to transfer an incubator patient and their parent in just 31mins. The same journey by road would have taken 2hrs 15mins.
Medic53 were tasked to a RTC at 21:39 and were on scene at 21:50. The crew treated the injured patient, conveying them to hospital by land for ongoing care.
Medic53 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 09:24 and were on scene at 09:35. The crew assisted WMAS to provide advanced critical care, before transporting the patient to hospital by land.
G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team SoNAR to transfer an incubator patient in just 56 mins. The same journey by road would have taken 3 hour 15 mins.
Helimed54 were tasked to a RTC at 12:09 and were on scene at 12:31. Landing in a nearby field, the crew treated a patient before airlifting them to hospital.
Medic54 were tasked to a RTC at 23:52 and were on scene at 00:20. The crew assisted EMAS to treat the injured patient, before they were conveyed to hospital for ongoing care.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical emergency at 15:45 and were on scene at 15:59. Landing in a nearby park, the crew assisted WMAS in providing advanced critical care, before transporting the patient to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 00:55 and were on scene at 01:21. Working alongside other services, the crew assessed a patient before they were conveyed to hospital.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
