A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC at 11:50 and were on scene at 12:02. The crew assessed a patient before they were conveyed to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 20:34 and were on scene at 20:57. The crew treated a patient, using critical care interventions before transferring them to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 15:28 and were on scene at 15:45. Working alongside other service, the crew assessed the patient, who has multiple suspected fractures. The patient was conveyed to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency at 17:44 and were on scene at 18:03. The crew treated a patient in cardiac arrest, providing advanced interventions including intubation and adrenaline infusion before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to an RTC at 10:02 and were on scene at 10:20. The crew treated a patient before conveying them to a major trauma centre by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical emergency at 06:04 and were on scene at 06:16. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient in cardiac arrest before transferring them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical trauma at 15:37 and were on scene at 15:44. Landing in nearby car park, the crew treated a patient with a head injury, providing pre-hospital emergency anaesthesia and a blood transfusion before transferring them to a major trauma centre by land.
Medic54 were tasked to an RTC involving a pedestrian at 22:17 and were on scene at 22:40. The crew treated a patient before conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a sporting trauma at 10:08 and were on scene at 10:20. The crew treated a patient following a fall from a horse, providing pain relief and procedural sedation before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to an incident involving a fall at 16:28 and were on scene at 16:49. The crew treated a patient before transferring them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to a medical emergency at 22:02 and were on scene at 22:28. The crew assisted EMAS with a patient before transferring them to hospital by land.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
