A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed54 received a call to a cardiac arrest at 11.00am and were on scene at 11.20am. Patient was given Pre-Hospital Emergency Anaesthesia on scene before being ground assisted to hospital.
G-TCAA worked alongside STRS to transfer a patient to Margate in 27 minutes to a specialist treatment centre. This journey by land ambulance would have taken almost 2 hours.
Medic54 received a call to a fall at 21.29pm and arrived on scene at 21.44pm. Patient had fallen down stairs and was taken to hospital via land ambulance.
Medic53 received a call to an RTC at 12.15pm and arrived on scene at 12.30pm. Head on road traffic collision involving 2x patients who were given pain relief. Both taken to hospital for further treatment.
Medic53 received a call to an RTC at 17.32pm and arrived on scene at 18.17pm. Head on road traffic collision involving a patient who was given pain relief for injuries before being taken to hospital by land ambulance.
Medic54 received a call to a fall from height at 16.30pm and arrived on scene at 16.50pm. Patient was given pain relief before being taken to hospital by land ambulance.
Medic54 received a call to an RTC at 16.32pm and arrived on scene at 17.02pm. 2 vehicles involved with 4 patients involved. All had minor injuries so were treated and handed over to crew.
Medic54 received a call to an RTC at 17.47pm and arrived on scene at 18.03pm. 4 patients were assessed and treated relief before being taken to hospital by land ambulance.
Medic54 received a call to an RTC at 00.52am and arrived on scene at 1.05am. Patient assessed and given pain relief before being handed over to paramedic crew for transport to hospital.
Medic54 received a call to a cardiac arrest at 20.39pm and arrived on scene at 20.58pm. Patient was resuscitated on scene with our team assisting before being handed over to crew.
Medic54 received a call to a cardiac arrest at 18.09pm and arrived on scene at 18.27pm. Patient was resuscitated on scene and land assisted to hospital for further care.
Helimed54 received a call to an incident at 10.27am and arrived on scene at 10.45am. Patient had fallen into a canal and found in cardiac arrest. Resuscitated on scene achieved before being ground assisted to hospital.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
