A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed54 were called to an RTC at 20.25pm and on scene at 20.48pm. Patient involved in RTC was assessed by crew after suffering head and shoulder injuries and left with other service.
Helimed53 were called to a medical incident at 12.50pm and on scene at 13.02pm. Patient was in cardiac arrest and critical care interventions were provided before being conveyed to hospital with TAAS.
Helimed54 were called to a fall at 14.09pm and on scene at 14.22pm. Patient was assessed before being taken to nearby hospital by EMAS.
Helimed54 were called to an RTC at 16.46pm and on scene at 17.04pm. Young patient was assessed before being conveyed with TAAS to hospital for further treatment.
Helimed53 were called to an RTC at 13.00pm and on scene at 13.19pm. Patient was assessed before being conveyed with TAAS to hospital.
Helimed54 were called to an RTC at 10.04am and on scene at 10.23am. Patient was assessed and flown to hospital for further treatment.
Medic53 were called to an RTC at 14.53pm and on scene at 15.03pm. Patient was assessed and administered advanced analgesia before being taken to hospital by land ambulance.
Helimed53 attended an industrial trauma at 9.47am and on scene at 10.00am. Assisted EMAS with the treatment of a patient with life threatening injury. Patient flown to hospital for further care.
Helimed54 attended an RTC at 15.04pm and on scene at 15.13pm. Our crew assessed patients which led to 1x being discharged and 2x other patients being transferred to hospital by land ambulance.
Medic54 were called to an RTC at 19.44pm and on scene at 20.15pm. Patient was assessed and our crew administered critical care interventions before they were conveyed with TAAS by land ambulance.
Medic53 were called to a fall at 23.36pm and on scene at 23.57pm. Patient was assessed after falling down stairs before being conveyed to hospital with TAAS.
G-PICU worked alongside SoNeT to transfer a patient from the South to a specialist hospital in just 34 minutes. This journey by land ambulance would have taken nearly 2 hours.
