A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

G-PICU worked alongside CATS to transfer a patient from the South to a specialist hospital in 39mins. This journey by land ambulance would have taken over 2hrs.
Medic54 were called at 20.27pm and were on scene at 20.46pm to assist with a patient stuck in mud or possible quicksand. They were extricated by fire crews and assessed by our team before being conveyed to hospital.
Helimed54 were called to attend an RTC at 15.46pm and were on scene at 15.56pm. Patient involved in low speed RTC and was assessed before being transported to hospital with EMAS.
Helimed54 were called to attend a fall at 12.23pm and were on scene at 12.36pm. Patient had fallen down the stairs and critical care skills required. Assisted EMAS and transferred the patient to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were called to attend a sporting incident at 13.46pm and were on scene at 14.00pm. Assisted EMAS with patient assessment and treatment following an off-road collision. Patient transported by road to hospital.
G-TCAA worked alongside EMBRACE to transfer a patient from the North to a specialist hospital in just 21 minutes. This journey by land ambulance would have taken over an hour.
Medic53 were called to attend a fall at 19.37pm and were on scene at 19.58pm. Patient had fallen down stairs and suffered suspected head injury. Prehospital anaesthetic administered by our crew and conveyed to hospital.
Helimed53 were called to attend a fall at 14.00pm and were on scene at 14.10pm. Patient was found with head injury. We were first on scene to provide initial interventions and help escort them to hospital by land.
Medic54 were called to attend an RTC at 20.46pm and were on scene at 21.07pm. Patient was trapped, unconscious in car. Advanced HEMS skills required before conveying patient to hospital for further care.
Medic53 were called to attend an assault at 21.55pm and were on scene at 22.02pm. Man was found with wounds and was assessed before being conveyed to hospital.
Medic54 were called to attend a fall at 20.33pm and were on scene at 20.45pm. Patient had fallen down the stairs. We assisted with the extrication and assessment before leaving patient with other service for further care.
Medic54 were called to attend an RTC at 1.51am and were on scene at 2.15am. Patient was conveyed with TAAS by land.
