A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed54 were called to an RTC at 12.12pm and on scene at 12.25pm. Crew assisted with extrication and assessment of patient who was taken to hospital by land ambulance.
Medic54 were called to a fall at 21.14pm and on scene at 21.50pm. Patient sustained head injury and was conveyed with TAAS to hospital for continued care.
Helimed54 were called to a medical incident at 12.11pm and on scene at 12.31pm. Advanced skills were required on patient before they were flown to hospital for further care.
Helimed53 were called to a trauma at 11.40am and on scene at 11.55am. Patient assessed, treated and transported to hospital for continued care.
Helimed53 were called to a fall at 14.26pm and on scene at 14.40pm. Patient fell from height and was assessed before being left with other service for further care.
Helimed54 were called to an RTC at 15.46pm and on scene at 16.07pm. Motorcyclist was assessed for suspected shoulder injury and was taken to hospital but further care.
Medic54 were called to a fall at 00.12am and on scene at 00.26am. Attended a patient who’d fallen downstairs. Anaesthesia and critical care were given before being taken to hospital.
G-PICU worked alongside WATCh to transfer a patient to the West in just 1hr 4mins. This journey by land ambulance would have taken over 3hrs.
Helimed53 were called to an RTC at 11.13am and on scene at 11.29am. Motorcyclist involved in RTC was conveyed with TAAS by land.
G-PICU worked alongside Nest to transfer a patient to the South West in just 1hr 49mins. This journey by land ambulance would have taken over 4hrs.
Medic54 were called to a burns incident at 19.51pm and on scene at 20.11pm. Patient was assessed for burns and advice was offered to EMAS crew for continued care.
G-TCAA worked alongside WATCh to transfer a patient to the West in just 58mins. This journey by land ambulance would have taken nearly 3hrs.
