A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed53 were tasked to a RTC at 16:05 and were on scene at 16:20. The crew treated a patient with a leg injury, conveying them to hospital by land.
G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team WATCh to transfer a patient and their parent in just 2 hrs 21mins. The same journey by road would have taken 6hrs.
Helimed53 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 15:57 and were on scene at 16:02. The crew treated a patient with a head injury, before they were conveyed to hospital for ongoing care.
Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency at 12:07 and were on scene at 12:15. The crew provided critical care to the patient, transferring them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 09:42 and were on scene at 09:55. The crew treated a patient with a head injury, providing enhanced care before conveying them to hospital for ongoing care.
Medic54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 01:24 and were on scene at 01:43. The crew assisted EMAS, providing critical care interventions, returning their circulation before conveying them to hospital by land.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team Embrace to transfer an incubator patient and their parent in just 1 hr 31mins. The same journey by road would have taken 6hrs 41mins.
Medic53 were tasked to a medical emergency at 09:05 and were on scene at 09:30. The crew assisted EMAS to treat the patient, before they were conveyed to hospital by land.
G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team KIDS to transfer a patient and their parent in just 36mins. The same journey by road would have taken 1hr 57mins.
Helimed54 were tasked to an agricultural trauma at 12:00 and were on scene at 12:18. The crew treated the patient with advanced critical care, before conveying them to hospital by air.
Medic53 were tasked to a RTC at 00:13 and were on scene at 00:35. The crew assisted WMAS to treat an injured patient, before they were transported to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 23:11 and were on scene at 23:44. The crew provided critical care interventions, returning their circulation before conveying them to hospital by land.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
