My name is David Meares and I joined TCAA in April 2023 as a Captain at the newly opened TCAA North Base in Gamston. Before learning to fly I spent 20 years as a management accountant working for some of the world’s largest IT Companies, but I was always drawn back to my childhood dream of flying helicopters. After a trial lesson, I decided to pursue my dream and gained my first flying job in the Aberdeen flying to the oil rigs in the Northern North Sea, before moving to Humberside in support of offshore windfarms hoisting the engineers onto the turbines. Having worked temporarily for TCAA in 2017, I was delighted to have the opportunity to return to such a worthwhile operation, whilst also being based at my local home airport.
