A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed54 received call at 15.33pm and were on the scene at 15.41pm. Patient treated on scene by our DLR critical care team and assisted to hospital by land ambulance
GPICU worked alongside NEST to transfer a patient from the Isle of White to a specialist treatment centre in 37 minutes. This journey by land ambulance would have taken over 3hrs.
Medic53 received a call to an RTC at 22.12am and were on scene at 22.32am. 1x young patient received critical care interventions by our own team, who then ground assisted them via land ambulance to hospital.
Helimed54 received a call to an agricultural incident at 15.16pm and were on scene at 15.33pm. Patient assessed, treated and handed over to EMAS for transport to hospital.
Helimed53 received a call to a medical emergency at 09.09am and were on scene at 09.25am. The patient required critical care by our team and was then flown to hospital.
GPICU worked alongside WATCh transport to a complete another patient transfer in just 40 minutes, instead of almost over 2hrs by road.

Helimed54 received a call at 10.54am and were on scene at 11.09am to attend an RTC involving a motorcyclist. Our crew assisted on the scene and handed over to EMAS for transport to hospital.
Helimed53 received a call to a high-speed RTC at 16.27pm and were on scene at 16.52pm. Multiple patients were assessed and treated bt our critical care team then handed over to EMAS for transport to hospital.
Helimed53 received a call at 14.31pm and were on scene at 14.50pm. Patient had fallen from horse where analgesia was given on scene and our crew escorted them to hospital via land ambulance.
GPICU worked alongside STRS to transfer a patient to London in just 24 minutes. A saving of over 2hours journey time by road
Helimed53 were tasked to a leisure trauma at 13:40 and were on scene at 13:51. The crew treated a patient who had fallen from a horse, transferring them to hospital by land.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
