A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed53 attended a medical incident at 14.54pm and were on scene at 15.05pm. Patient was a cyclist who had collapsed and suffered cardiac arrest and was conveyed to hospital via land ambulance.
Helimed54 attended a trauma at 12.13pm and were on scene at 12.41pm. Patient had suffered facial trauma and was conveyed to hospital by land.
Helimed53 attended a fall at 14.48pm and were on scene at 15.15pm. We assisted EMAS with treatment for the patient who had suffered head injury before they were escorted to hospital by road.
Medic54 attended an industrial incident at 23.32pm and were on scene at 23.38pm. Patient was assessed after suffering leg injury and was left with other service.
Helimed53 were called to medical incident at 13.20pm and were on scene at 13.30pm. Patient had suffered flash burns to the face and was assessed before being left with other service.
Medic53 attended a fall at 18.55pm and were on scene at 19.16pm. Patient had fallen from ladder and was assessed before being left with other service.
Helimed53 attended an agricultural incident at 13.32pm and were on scene at 13.48pm. Patient was assessed and had suffered an arm injury before being left with the other service for further care.
Helimed54 were requested by EMAS to attend an RTC at 10.38am and were on scene at 11.02am. Patient had been hit by a car was assessed and accompanied via road ambulance to hospital for further care.
G-PICU worked alongside STRS to transfer a patient from the South East to a specialist hospital in 31mins. This journey by land ambulance would have taken just over 1hr and 45mins.
Helimed54 were called to a leisure incident at 14.35pm and were on scene at 14.56pm. Assessed and treated a cyclist with injury before conveying to hospital by land ambulance.
Helimed53 were called to a leisure incident at 17.20pm and were on scene at 17.41pm. Assisted with the extrication of a patient who had fallen from horse.
G-TCAA worked alongside Embrace to transfer a patient from the North to a specialist hospital in just 1hr 29 minutes. This journey by land ambulance would have taken over 4 hours.
