A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC at 09:49 and were on scene at 10:09. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient, before airlifting them to hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC at 11:27 and were on scene at 11:37. Landing in a field next to the incident, the crew worked with other services to treat four patients. Two patients were transferred to hospital by EMAS, while the other two were discharged on scene.
Helimed53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 11:07 and were on scene at 11:27. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient, before conveying them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC at 14:39 and were on scene at 14:53. Landing nearby, the crew worked alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient, before airlifting them to hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 11:53 and were on scene at 12:05. Landing in a nearby field, the crew treated a patient, transferring them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 14:36 and were on scene at 14:53. Landing in a nearby field, the crew treated a patient before conveying them to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to a patient who had suffered burns at 15:16 and were on scene at 15:30. Landing in a field, the crew worked alongside other services to treat the patient before airlifting them to hospital.
G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team SORT in the South to transfer a patient in just 25mins. The same journey by road would have taken 1hr 30mins.
Helimed54 were tasked to a RTC at 10:16 and were on scene at 10:33. Landing in a field adjacent to scene, the crew worked alongside multiple other services, the crew treated four patients, all of who were transported to hospital.
Helimed54 were tasked to a RTC at 13:18 and were on scene at 13:35. Landing in a nearby field, the crew treated the injured patient with blood products before conveying them to hospital by land for ongoing care.
Helimed53 were tasked to a RTC at 12:56 and were on scene at 13:13. Landing in a nearby field, the crew provided advanced critical care before transferring the patient to hospital by air.
G-NICU worked alongside clinical partner team SoNAR to transfer an incubator patient & their parent in just 57mins. The same journey by road would have taken 2hrs 52mins.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
