A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed53 were tasked to an RTC at 16:14 and were on scene at 16:24. Landing in a nearby field, the crew worked alongside other services to treat a patient, before they were transferred to hospital by WMAS.
G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team SONeT in the South to transfer an incubator patient and their parent in just 42mins. The same journey by road would have taken 3hrs 16mins.
G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team KIDS in the South to transfer a patient in just 1hr. The same journey by road would have taken 3hrs 23mins.
Helimed53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 07:40 and were on scene at 07:54. Landing in a field, the crew worked alongside other services to treat a patient, using advanced critical care skills to return their spontaneous circulation, before conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to an RTC at 15:43 and were on scene at 15:53. Working alongside multiple other services, the crew treated an injured patient, providing advanced critical care, before transferring them to hospital by land.

Medic54 were tasked to a medical trauma at 07:29 and were on scene at 07:41. Working alongside EMAS, the crew assisted with the assessment and treatment of a patient, before they were conveyed to hospital by land.
G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team KIDS in the Midlands to transfer a patient and their parent in just 1hr 5mins. The same journey by road would have taken 3hrs 58mins.
Helimed54 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 15:42 and were on scene eat 15:57. Landing in a field, the crew worked alongside other services to treat the patient, who was experiencing pain, before they were transferred to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 17:26 and were on scene at 17:40. Landing in a nearby field, the crew worked alongside other services to treat a patient, providing advanced critical care and returning their spontaneous circulation, before conveying them to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a patient who had fallen while climbing. Landing on a nearby sports pitch, the crew worked alongside mountain rescue to treat the patient, before they were transferred to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to an RTC at 12:04 and were on scene at 12:36. Landing in a nearby field, the crew worked alongside multiple other services to treat a patient with a head injury, before airlifting them to hospital.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
