A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

G–NICU worked alongside clinical partner team Embrace to transfer a patient & their parent in just 20mins. The same journey by road would have taken 1hr 27mins.
Medic53 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 22:51 and were on scene at 23:07. The crew treated a patient with a head injury before they were transferred to hospital for ongoing care.
Helimed54 were tasked to an industrial trauma at 07:28 and were on scene at 07:49. Landing in an industrial estate, the crew provided critical care, before transferring them to hospital by air.
Medic53 were tasked to a sporting incident at 08:22 and were on scene at 08:52. The crew treated an injured patient before they were transferred to hospital for ongoing care.
G-CPTZ worked alongside clinical partner team KIDS to transfer a patient & their parent in just 45mins. The same journey by road would have taken 2hrs 50mins.
G-NICU worked alongside clinical partner team SORT to transfer a patient & their parent in just 2hr 21mins. The same journey by road would have taken 7hrs 10mins.
Helimed54 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 15:18 and were on scene at 15:41. Landing in a nearby sports field, the crew treated a patient with a head injury before airlifting them to hospital.
Medic54 were tasked to an RTC at 01:15 and were on scene at 01:51. Working alongside other services, the crew provided advanced critical care to an injured patient, before they were conveyed to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to an RTC at 04:40 and were on scene at 05:13. Working alongside other services, the crew treated a patient, who was transferred to hospital by EMAS.
Helimed54 were tasked to a sporting trauma at 14:38 and were on scene at 14:58. Landing in field on scene, the crew worked alongside WMAS, treating an injured patient before they were conveyed to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to a sporting trauma at 17:02 and were on scene at 17:13. Landing on scene, the crew worked with multiple other services to treat an injured patient, before they were transferred to hospital by land.
Medic54 were tasked to an RTC at 20:15 and were on scene at 20:18. Working alongside EMAS, the crew treated a patient, before they were conveyed to hospital by land.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
