A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed54 were tasked to a medical emergency at 11:01 and were on scene at 11:20. The crew treated a patient, before conveying them to hospital by land.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team Embrace to transfer a patient in just 58mins. The same journey by road would have taken 3hrs 38mins.
Medic54 were tasked to a RTC at 19:49 and were on scene at 20:22. The crew assisted EMAS to provide critical care to the injured patient, before conveying them to hospital by air.
Helimed54 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 10:58 and were on scene at 11:12. Landing in a nearby field, the crew treated a patient, before they were transferred to hospital for ongoing care.
Medic54 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 05:04 and were on scene at 05:24. The crew assisted multiple other services to treat a patient, before they were conveyed to hospital by EMAS.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team SoNAR to transfer an incubator patient in just 1hr 16 mins. The same journey by road would have taken 2hrs 54mins.
Helimed53 were tasked to an agricultural trauma at 13:55 and were on scene at 14:12. The crew treated a patient, providing analgesia, before transporting them to hospital by air for ongoing care.
Medic54 were tasked to a RTC at 00:48 and were on scene at 01:05. The crew treated an injured patient, before conveying them to hospital by land.
Helimed53 were tasked to an agricultural emergency at 12:32 and were on scene at 12:44. The crew treated a patient, before conveying them to hospital by land.
G-CPTZ crew worked alongside clinical partner team Embrace to transfer a patient and their parent in just 1hr 21 mins. The same journey by road would have taken 4hrs 29mins.
Helimed53 were tasked to a cardiac arrest at 08:56 and were on scene at 08.59. The crew worked alongside WMAS to provide critical care, before transporting the patient to hospital.
Medic54 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 18:19 and were on scene at 18:31. The crew assessed a patient before conveying them to hospital by land.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
