A quick response 
to save Penny’s life
Last summer, a holiday to Whitby turned into a medical emergency for Penny, a 19-month-old toddler who had already faced a life-changing battle before. Less than a year earlier, at just 8 months old, Penny had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. But as her family gathered for a relaxing summer break, Penny’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse.

Helimed54 were tasked to a RTC at 12:51 and were on scene at 13:03. The crew treated an injured patient, providing analgesia before they were transferred to hospital by land.
Helimed54 were tasked to a RTC at 16:23 and were on scene at 16:50. The crew treated an injured patient providing advanced critical care, before transporting them to hospital by air.
G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team SONeT to transfer an incubator patient and their parent in just 1hr 8mins. The same journey by road would have taken 4hrs 13mins.
Helimed53 were tasked to a medical incident at 13:06 and were on scene at 13:20. The crew provided critical care interventions, returning their circulation before conveying them to hospital by land.
Medic53 were tasked to a patient who had fallen at 17:03 and were on scene at 17:35. The crew assisted EMAS to assess the patient, conveying them to hospital by land for ongoing care.
G-NICU crew worked alongside clinical partner team Embrace to transfer a patient in just 26mins. The same journey by road would have taken 1hr 34mins.
Helimed54 were tasked to a patient with burns at 09:37 and were on scene at 09:48. The crew treated the injured patient, conveying them to hospital by land for ongoing care.

In total, we fly 4 helicopters across the charity, 2x for our local service and 2x for our Children’s Air Ambulance. We also have 2x Critical Care Cars that support our HEMs services.
Our local service covers 5x counties; Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The Children’s Air Ambulance covers the whole of the UK and works with 10 Clinical Partner Teams from various specialist hospitals.
We provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the counties of Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, however, we do support air ambulances further afield if we’re needed.
The Children’s Air Ambulance operates throughout the UK and works with Clinical Partner Teams from specialist hospitals.
