HOW YOUR SUPPORT HELPS
Just weeks before his second birthday, Jayden became seriously unwell with breathing difficulties. Initially diagnosed with croup, his condition worsened, and he was rushed to hospital where doctors worked to stabilise him as his breathing became increasingly critical.
Despite treatment, Jayden’s condition didn’t improve, and he was sedated, intubated, and placed on a ventilator. With no Paediatric Intensive Care Unit available locally, he urgently needed transferring to Leeds for specialist treatment.
That’s when the National Children’s Air Ambulance was called, transferring Jayden and cutting what could have been a 90 minute journey down to just 25 minutes. We flew Jayden alongside his mum and a specialist clinical team, ensuring he continued to receive the care he needed as throughout transit.
After two days in intensive care, Jayden improved enough to return to his local hospital, and soon after, he was able to go home. Within a few weeks, he had made a strong recovery and was back to his normal self.
