Betty was born in the Cotswolds, she was eldest child, her father used to call her 'Bettykins' and from an early age she was known as 'Betty' or Bet. She had 3 sisters (Doris, Jill, and Pat), and 2 brothers ('Sonny' Raymond, and Roger). After leaving school Betty worked in an accounts firm in Stow-on-the-Wold with her sister Doris. Betty later recalled how the office was close to a bakery, and Betty and Doris arranged to get cream cakes delivered to the office, and that was how Betty met and fell in love with the young apprentice baker Peter, who delivered the cakes. Betty and Peter soon fell in love and married. They lived for short spells in Plymouth, then Bristol, but settled in Kidderminster for around 25+ years, where Betty worked as a school cook. When they retired, they moved to be close to their daughter and first grandchild, and settled in Derbyshire. Betty was a regular contributor to the Air Ambulance, and so this is one of the charities that donations at her funeral are going toward supporting.Remembered by Andrew Cairns, Son
