Warwickshire locals to embark on the challenge of a lifetime for lifesaving charity
Jeremy Ellis and Chris Mills will be taking on the challenge of a lifetime to raise vital funds to support the lifesaving missions of The Air Ambulance Service (TAAS).
On 03 September Jeremy and Chris will be cycling from Land’s End, the south westerly tip of England to John O’Groats, at the very top of Scotland. This challenge will be a grueling 12-day, 1,000-mile journey to raise funds to support this lifesaving charity.
“We are both keen cyclists but will be taking on the challenge of a lifetime to support The Air Ambulance Service,” said Chris Mills.
“The company I work for is in the traffic industry and will be sponsoring us as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility scheme. They are committed to enhancing safety and community well-being, recognising the importance of supporting the lifesaving missions TAAS provides.” he added.
The Air Ambulance Service (TAAS) operates two local services the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA), and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA), as well as the national Children’s Air Ambulance (TCAA).
The WNAA and DLRAA crews deliver critical care at road traffic collisions, sports events, medical emergencies – such as cardiac arrest and accidents at home – and other incidents needing expert pre-hospital medical interventions, 24/7, 365 days a year.
The national Children’s Air Ambulance is changing the face of paediatric and neonatal care through the high-speed transfer of critically ill babies and children – flying them from one hospital to another for specialist care.
The children’s charity works alongside 11 NHS paediatric retrieval teams across the UK, enabling them to bring their specialist equipment on board to safely transfer their patients from one hospital to another.
Morgan Turnbull, Junior Events Manager for the charity said:
“On behalf of the charity I would like to say thank you to Jeremy and Chris for taking on the challenge of a lifetime to support our lifesaving charity.”
“The Air Ambulance Service receives no government or National Lottery funding and relies on support from the local community and businesses for each lifesaving mission.
“Support just like this means we can continue to save lives every day,” she expressed.
