Thrapston community raise over £2,000 for local air ambulance

A Thrapston community event, running for the last 40 years, has raised £2,250.00 for the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA).

The generous donation was raised from the annual Santa’s Sleigh which takes places every Christmas through the town of Thrapston.

The spectacular annual event, organised by Thrapston fire service & Thrapston Cricket club, is a real community and family event that everyone enjoys attending, while also raising funds for a lifesaving charity.

Event Organiser David Kelly said: “The whole community get involved during the eight nights of the event, and even cook hot food and supply mulled wine for the fabulous air ambulance volunteers – It really is great fun and all for a worthy cause.”

Community Fundraising Executive for WNAA, Stacey Randall added: “We would like to thank the Thrapston community, especially the fire service and cricket club, for their continued support.

“As a charity that isn’t government-funded, we rely on communities coming together and fundraising for our vital service, so donations such as these, are truly appreciated.”
