The Air Ambulance Service is recruiting for a new CEO

We have launched a search for our next CEO who will be responsible for the successful delivery of our vital lifesaving work across our air ambulance services.

At The Air Ambulance Service (TAAS), our objective is to save lives. We work with specialist doctors, paramedics, and pilots to improve clinical outcomes and ultimately be able to react quickly and efficiently to emergencies. We support the NHS by providing our services without cost. We are at the forefront of innovative clinical care, and we challenge boundaries. None of this can be achieved without a hugely dedicated team of colleagues, volunteers, and the support of the public.

The Air Ambulance Service provides two very important functions: Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire, and the Children’s Air Ambulance which provides paediatric transfers across the UK.

The Board of Trustees and the Directors of our Trading Company have been significantly refreshed in the last twelve months, bringing skills and senior expertise into the governance of TAAS and we are excited to recruit a Chief executive who shares our excitement, commitment, and ambition.

As our new Chief Executive, you will have an important role to play in shaping the next TAAS strategy and ensuring that our people and operating structures can deliver our ambitions to be even more impactful locally and nationally. Delivering our lifesaving work takes significant fundraising as we rely totally on a loyal and generous community for charitable donations and income from our retail outlets. We receive no funding from the NHS or the government.

We are looking for an individual who will bring creative, values-based leadership skills that will inspire colleagues and volunteers. Being a visible leader to our staff, volunteers, and the wider community, as well as building strong productive relationships with leaders in the NHS and beyond. Our new CEO will share our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, which is central to our values and will be a key enabler of our new strategy.

All of this creates a superb opportunity for the next Chief Executive to lead the Charity, build on our recent success, and be part of the transformational journey that we have embarked upon.
