Running into 2019…Part 8

It has been a hectic few weeks with lots of exciting things going on at work, a country music festival (yes, really), and of course my 28th birthday. I am yet another year older so I expect this aging will impact significantly on my overall running time, just kidding, I haven’t resorted to using this excuse…yet.nnAs I sit in the back of a Volvo, with Dire Straits blaring, in between grandparents and walking sticks as we road trip to Wales for a funeral, I will bring you up to speed with how my training has been going. I believe I left you all in suspense at my Draycote Water run? Well, it wasn’t a great one. I was made to believe it was flat. Now when I think of flat, I think of the Netherlands kind of flat with no slow burn inclines, so I did have a bit of a moment and bowed out early.

Although the Draycote route isn’t one I shall be revisiting anytime soon, I did then have a great run with my aunt round Daventry where we hit 8 miles on a weeknight, completing it in a great time and with limited heavy breathing afterwards. This then kept me in good stead for my other runs, none exceeding 10 miles though as I have been here, there, and everywhere, making it all a little more difficult to fit in!nnThis difficulty was emphasised last Friday, after a long week my legs were not thrilled when I put them to work and I really felt the aches through my body with all the training, but as my aunt said, at least I didn’t give up; in the end, we did it!nnThis then made me eager to regroup so I have decided to take on a long run in Wales, I’ll get dropped off a good amount of miles out (still deciding on how many) and I’ll run to the hotel, I then have no choice but to get back with the biggest incentive spurring me on…my dinner!

Wish me luck and hopefully I won’t get lost somewhere in Wales! I’ll let you know how it goes!nnI look forward to seeing you all at my Quiz Night on the 22nd, if you haven’t yet booked, it’s not too late to book your table! It’s set to be a great evening!
