Nottingham man completes half marathon to raise vital funds for lifesaving charity

Dave Wilson aged twenty-eight from Nottingham took on the Robin Hood Half Marathon to raise vital funds to support the lifesaving missions of the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA).

The Robin Hood Half Marathon took place on Sunday 29 September 2024 and is one of the longest established and most popular city centre road events in the UK.

The route is a traffic free picturesque course starts at Victoria Embankment and takes in many sights along the way including Nottingham Castle, Wollaton Park and finishes on Victoria Embankment Recreation Ground next to the River Trent.

“I chose to take on the Robin Hood Half Marathon to challenge myself and to raise vital funds to support the WNAA and DLRAA crews who have helped to save lives across Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, including some of those close to me,” said Dave Wilson.

The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance crews deliver critical care at road traffic collisions, sports events, medical emergencies – such as cardiac arrest and accidents at home – and other incidents needing expert pre-hospital medical interventions.

Morgan Turnbull, Junior Events Manager for the charity said:

“I would like to say a big thank you to Dave for taking on this challenge to support our lifesaving missions.

“We receive no government or National Lottery funding, so rely on donations and support from the local community and businesses just like this so our crews can be available 24/7, 365 days a year to administer lifesaving pre-hospital care to those who need it most.”
