Northamptonshire local incredibly raises more than £11,000 to support lifesaving charity

Marcus O’Hanlon from Northamptonshire has incredibly raised more than £11,000 to support the lifesaving missions of the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA).

Marcus began his fundraising in 2020 with the support of his wife Emma and son Frankie, raising a total of £11,320 – funding more than four lifesaving missions in Northamptonshire and further afield.

His phenomenal fundraising was achieved with raffles, tombola’s, coffee mornings, a JustGiving page, as well as a 200-mile challenge in 2021 walking from the West coast at St Bees to the East coast at Robin Hoods Bay, the Three Peaks Challenge in 2023 and even a 100-mile walk over four days in the Peak District in 2024 with his son Frankie, where they carried all their kit.

“My family and I were lucky enough to visit the charity’s airbase to see exactly how their services operate, meet the crew and find out more about this amazing charity.

“You really never know when you might need their help, so we are so grateful to everyone who has donated funds and helped us to raise an incredible £11,320 to support further lifesaving missions of the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance,” said Marcus O’Hanlon.

Within minutes, WNAA’s critical care crews can be on the ground delivering pre-hospital emergency care and giving patients the very best chance of survival – this vital service relies entirely on donations to raise the £2,300 needed for each lifesaving mission, as the charity receives no government or National Lottery funding.

“On behalf of the charity I would like to say a big thank you to Marcus, his wife Emma and their son Frankie for the incredible support they have shown for our charity since 2020,” said Karen Hughes, Community Fundraising Executive for Northamptonshire.

“Without support just like this we wouldn’t be able to continue to keep our helicopters flying and our crews providing pre-hospital critical care 24/7, 365 days a year,” she expressed.
