Northamptonshire donation day to help fund local charity’s lifesaving missions

A donation day has been arranged by Bugbrooke Environmental Working Group to help support the lifesaving missions of the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA).

On Friday 25 April 2025 between 10:00am and 4:00pm Bugbrooke Community Centre will host the donation day where items such as clothes, shoes, accessories, PCs, laptops, phones, bric-a-brac, toys & games, small electrical items, CDs and much more are accepted.

With no government funding and relying solely on generous donations to remain operational, income from the donation days enable the charity to operate and reach those in their hour of need.

Bugbrooke Environmental Working Group was formed in March 2022 by two Bugbrooke Parish Councillors, Jane Wood and Clare Slater. Since then, they have organised a number of events aimed at raising awareness of environmental issues and have helped the local community to come together to save items from landfill.

“It is lovely to see the local community come together to save items from landfill and at the same time support a local vital charity,” said Clare Slater, Bugbrooke Parish Councillor and one of the founding members of Bugbrooke Environmental Working Group.

“We have been delighted with the success of our previous donation days over the past few years, and we hope this one will be just as successful so we can keep the charity’s lifesaving missions possible,” she added.

Liz Kelly, Business Support Manager for the charity said:

“We have been overwhelmed with the tremendous support shown to us by the local community at other donation drive-in days arranged by Bugbrooke Environmental Working Group and we hope this one will be just as successful – the amount donated to us will help to support our lifesaving service.”

“We would like to say a big thank you to Bugbrooke Environmental Working Group and everyone who came along to support before as with the public’s help, we have managed to divert a significant number of unwanted items from landfill and in turn kept our helicopters flying,” she expressed.

The charity offers a variety of reuse services, from being the first UK charity to offer a full closed-loop recycling service, offering IT Asset Reuse and data wiping services and free home collections of preloved items, to supplying over 1,000 recycling banks nationwide – diverting over 1.6million tonnes a year from landfill – the charity is making strides in driving sustainability.
