Northampton local to take on half marathon to raise vital funds for lifesaving charity
Victoria Strickland from Northampton will be taking on The Amazing Northampton Run Half Marathon to raise vital funds to support the lifesaving missions of the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA).
The Amazing Northampton Run Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 15 September 2024 and will loop around the historic Market Square, follow the river past Northampton’s three main sporting grounds, go through two beautiful parks, pass through the University campus and finish back in the Market Square.
“Earlier this year a family friend lost her husband and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance was his chosen charity, so I wanted to help support their lifesaving missions by taking on my fourth half marathon,” said Victoria Strickland.
“I started running in 2020 with a couch to 5k and became addicted. My advice to everyone thinking about taking on a running challenge is ‘go for it’ as you get an amazing sense of achievement and know you have helped a worthy charity too,” she added.
The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance crews deliver critical care at road traffic collisions, sports events, medical emergencies – such as cardiac arrest and accidents at home – and other incidents needing expert pre-hospital medical interventions.
Morgan Turnbull, Junior Events Manager for the charity said:
“I would like to say a big thank you to Victoria for signing up to take on The Amazing Northampton Run Half Marathon to raise funds to support our lifesaving charity.”
“We receive no government or National Lottery funding, so rely entirely on donations and support from the local community and businesses to raise the £2,300 needed for each vital mission,” she expressed.
