Newark shop opens for business

Our first shop opening of the year took place in Nottinghamshire on Saturday. The latest Children’s Air Ambulance shop is a home store in Newark specialising in furniture and bric-a-brac. The stock is a mixture of new and nearly new goods and is spread over two floors of a renovated former discount store in St Marks Place. It was officially opened by Emma McClarkin, the Conservative MEP for the East Midlands. Area retail manager June Green said: ‘’The building used to be a pound shop and has been totally transformed – people won’t be able to tell the difference. We think it’s going to be really popular and is a totally different sort of charity shop. We will be one of the biggest charity shops in Newark and the biggest charity furniture shop.’’ The new furniture outlet is similar to a recently opened home store for the Children’s Air Ambulance in Burton-on-Trent. The Newark store is managed by Melissa Kirk who has a background in charity and who is local to the area. We are looking for donations and also volunteers to help out in the store. They should either pop into the shop or call 07496919544. Newark is the 11th Children’s Air Ambulance shop to open.
