Mission Monday – Happy New Year!
Happy New Year from everyone at the Children’s Air Ambulance! We thought it would be a good time to look back at mission stats from this year.nnIt wasn’t just Father Christmas who was kept busy on the 25th December 2017. The amazing team from the Children’s Air Ambulance was working hard all day ready to help any children who needed our help!nnLuckily, there were no call outs on Christmas Day but our amazing team of pilots and paramedics have been incredibly throughout the rest of the year.nnThe Children’s Air Ambulance completed a massive 80 patient transfers in 2017, taking seriously ill children to the specialist hospital care they needed, and completed 67 team moves, getting the paramedics to sick children, wherever they were, and delivering the care and support required.nnWe receive no government funding to help us with any of these missions and it is only through the support of people like you that we are able to keep flying and continue doing the life-saving work we do.nnnnSince the charity started we have now completed over 330 missions and have been able to transfer 54 parents in the helicopter with their children to hospital. Being able to fly is incredibly important for parents and we hope to be able to fly more this year.nnWhen Little Freddie suddenly collapsed at a holiday park without any warning he was taken to the nearest hospital but it was soon decided that he had to be transported urgently to a specialist care team in London. That’s when the Children’s Air Ambulance came to the rescue.nnFreddie’s mum Jess was able to fly with Freddie from Hastings to the specialist team who could help him who were based at the Evelina Children’s Hospital in London.nnThe Children’s Air Ambulance got Freddie there in just 19 minutes. Watch the behind the scenes video of Freddie below and hear Jess talk about how much it meant for her to be able to fly with her son.nnhttps://youtu.be/cFJE2HJyMSYnnWe hope this year to be able to reach even more seriously ill children and get them to the care they need. We can only do this with your support.nnThank you and happy new year!nn nn
