Kineton High School help save lives with Charity Week donation
Kineton High School has continued its longstanding tradition of supporting the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA), having raised further vital funds for the charity through their annual Charity Week.
The school have supported the local charity since 2006, and in their latest effort, the school donated an impressive £1,716.19 to WNAA, bringing their total contributions to £21,893.64 – funding almost 10 missions for the lifesaving charity.
The Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance provides critical care at a range of incidents, including road traffic collisions, medical emergencies such as cardiac arrests, accidents at home, and other emergencies requiring expert medical intervention before reaching the hospital.
As a gesture of gratitude, selected students from the school were invited to visit the WNAA Airbase for a special tour. During the visit, students learned about the lifesaving work their fundraising helps to support, including critical pre-hospital care provided to those in need across the local community and beyond.
Charity Week is a highlight of the Kineton High School calendar, with Sixth Form students taking the lead in organising and running a week full of fundraising activities to support their chosen charities. This year, the students raised a total of £3,432, which was split between Macmillan Cancer Support and WNAA.
The 2023 Charity Week featured a range of exciting events, including rap battles and dance-offs involving teachers, alongside student-led comedic takes on popular panel shows such as Taskmaster and Would I Lie to You? The festivities culminated in the much-anticipated Charity Show – a comedic play written and performed by Sixth Formers for the enjoyment of staff, students, and parents alike.
Anoushka Brown, Youth Development Manager for WNAA, expressed her gratitude for the school’s efforts, saying:
“On behalf of the charity, I would like to thank everyone at Kineton High School, especially the fantastic Sixth Formers, for raising more vital funds to support our charity.
“We receive no government or National Lottery funding, so we rely on donations from the local community just like this to ensure our crews can remain available 24/7, 365 days a year, providing lifesaving pre-hospital care to those who need it most.”
Sixth Form student Joe Collins shared his thoughts on supporting the WNAA by commenting:
“We chose to support the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance as it’s an important local charity close to our hearts. The crew works tirelessly to serve our community, and their work has touched so many lives. It was a brilliant experience visiting the airbase and learning firsthand how our contributions help save lives.”
