Inner Wheel chooses air ambulance as charity of the year

The Inner Wheel of Atherstone has raised £1,000 for the lifesaving Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA).

President of the Inner Wheel Ann Woolacott, and the group raised money through hosting different stalls and activities. Stalls sold cookery books and paper hedgehogs made from recycled paperback books and, they had a toy raffle at their main fundraiser for the year.

Explaining her support for WNAA, Ann said: “The reason I chose Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance is because Atherstone and its surrounding areas are quite rural but are also located along the main A5 and the motorways of the M42 and M6. The local air ambulance regularly flies around this area transporting or attending accidents on the roads and at isolated farming areas.”

Welcoming the donation, WNAA community fundraiser executive Laura Sage added: “On behalf of our charity, I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone from the group for their support and for raising such a wonderful amount of money. Our service relies entirely on donations from members of the public to remain operational as we receive no government or National Lottery funding.

“Support from groups like the Inner Wheel of Atherstone is invaluable and goes a long way in helping to keep our frontline service out there saving lives.”
