Thank You Vintage Motorcycle Club
Members of the Northampton Section of the Vintage Motorcycle Club donated £500 to the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance after two of their number rode from Northampton to Land’s End and back in less than 20 hours.
Trevor Pinfold of Blisworth and Jim Poole of Hardingstone, both aged 70, completed the ride in July. The overall mileage was 710 and it took 19¾ hours. Trevor was riding a 1982 Honda and Jim was riding a 2012 Honda when they set off at six in the morning to travel cross country to Bridgewater and across Exmoor to Lynmouth. Land’s End was then reached by way of Barnstaple and Redruth. The return trip took in The Lizard, Truro and across Dartmoor to Exeter, which was by-passed by using three miles of the M5, the only motorway used. Continuing along the south coast to Lyme Regis, they arrived home via Salisbury and Oxford.
The money, which included a generous donation from Brackley Motorcycling Festival, was handed over at Hunsbury Country Park to Warwickshire and Northamptonshire volunteers Richard Durham and Heather Burton at the start of one of the section’s regular Sunday morning Social Runs.
