Thank You Strong Survive

On Saturday 12th December 2015, Strong Survive Derbyshire (a local motorcycle club) donated £1,563.91 for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA).

Strong Survive members presented Richard, Grace and Julie Fletcher, Derbyshire representatives for DLRAA, with the money at The Hurt Arms in Ambergate. The money was raised when Strong Survive hosted an excellent custom and classic bike show on Sunday 27th September 2015, at the Hurt Arms, Derby Road, Ambergate DE56 2EJ – showing off different bikes to appeal to all riders while raising money for (DLRAA). It featured five custom show categories: Chopper, Lowrider, Custom Streetfighter, Trike and Classic, as well as an overall Best in Show.

The event had refreshment, craft and tombola stalls and a special raffle with prizes donated by local business – a special thank you to Josie Flint of Thorntons for providing prizes of chocolates and toffee, and some amazing money boxes. They had some great music too.

Strong Survive would like to say a very special thanks to the wives and girlfriends as without their help this show would not be possible. Strong Survive would also like to thank all their friends and family, all the people who donated and supported this event, the show category sponsors, our friend Weli for helping to design the T-shirts and posters and The Hurt Arms for giving us the venue. Last but not least everyone that attended the Custom Show – without their support the show wouldn’t have been a fantastic success.

Strong Survive explained the reason for the delay in the announcement and presentation was on the way home from the event Adam from League of Zeal MCC was involved in a life-changing accident and without the help of the (DLRAA) things could have been a lot different. Adam has a tough journey ahead but is really grateful that (DLRAA) were available and took him to the right hospital for his injuries. Everyone hopes we never have to use this service and events like this keeps us saving lives.

Richard said: “I was delighted to be presented with the money from Strong Survive. They have done an amazing job. On the day so many volunteered their time we were also there providing support and help. DLRAA relies entirely on donations from members of the public as it receives no government funding. Therefore support from people such as Strong Survive Derbyshire and the team of volunteers really are invaluable and will go a long way to helping to keep our lifesaving service flying and saving lives.”

Strong Survive is planning to hold the event annually and will be raising more money for the (DLRAA) for the next event we have a provisional date of 25th September 2016, please keep your eyes open for the posters.
