Thank you Matlock Athletic Club
Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance are saying a thank you to Matlock Athletic Club for donating £250.00 for their vital services.
Freya Lester Junior Ladies Captain for Matlock Athletic Club presented Richard Fletcher Volunteer Derbyshire Community Representative for DLRAA, with the money at the Arc Leisure Centre in Matlock. The donation was raised when Matlock Athletic Club decided to raise some money for our Night Cars and club choose to run the Peak Rail Runner-v-Steam 7 miler on Easter Monday. Despite the inclement weather forecast and snow which turned to rain the race soon started. With the help of Peak Rail and Derbyshire County Council, this seven-mile event saw runners racing on the new section of the White Peak Loop, which runs from Rowsley to Matlock, and the close proximity of the Peak Rail track to the course gave cheering supporters on the train a number of photographic opportunities. The course is almost exclusively off road apart from a small section heading in to Matlock. The train completed the 7-mile journey in 57.24 minutes. Of the 124 runners taking part, 54 beat the train.
