Thank You Draycot Water Circular Challenge Cyclists
On Sunday 20th September a group of nine riders cycled from The Railway Club, Rugby to Draycote Water, around the water and back again – all in aid of our charity. They were joined en-route by Charlotte and Jacob Taylor who encouraged the team along the way with their relentless enthusiasm.
Mandy Dahlgren, one of the riders who was formerly rescued by Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, said: “I am so very proud of everyone involved in this event and it gives me great pleasure to announce that the grand total that our wonderful cycling team raised was £2,204.10. This is a fantastic achievement as the original target was £1,700 – which is the cost of one helicopter mission.
“A big thank you to all who participated, especially Jan and Lesley, as they raised the highest amount for the team (£754), and Steve, who manned our stand at Draycote Water. Further thanks to The Railway Club for allowing us to start and finish there and Draycote Water for allowing us to cycle, to collect en-route and also put up a stand.”
The cyclists included Alan Jackson, Mandy Dahlgren, Leslie Hartopp, Trevor Pike, Si Hough, Nin Blundell, Phil Blundell (Jnr), Sabine Ritter-Maltby and Tony Hoppitt.
A big thanks goes to everyone all of their sponsors, especially to Alan Jackson’s dad and Rugby Domestic Services for their generous donations.
Finally a special thank you to Alan Jackson for coming up with the idea for the event (and the strap line ‘We are pedaling to keep their blades turning’) who was also celebrated his birthday on the same day.
