Thank You Cowley Sisters
Sisters Lucy, Grace and Alice Cowley climbed the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro, and raised £1,200 for the local air ambulance service.
As healthcare professionals they have all seen patients whose lives have been saved by the charity’s helicopter crews and they wanted to do something to support the work they do.
“The air ambulance has such an important input into giving positive outcomes to patients so we all thought it a very worthwhile cause,” says Grace (25), a physiotherapist from Loughborough.
She and older sister Lucy (30), a GP working in Nuneaton, joined youngest sister Alice (23) in Tanzania for the sponsored climb. Alice has just qualified as a GP, after completing her training in Leicester, and was in the country on a work placement.
It took the sisters four days to complete the 5,895 metre hike to the summit of Kilimanjaro. “It was a testing experience but we kept each other going and the views and sights were amazing. You will never see a sunrise anywhere else like it,” says Grace.
