Thank you Matlock Town FC
On Saturday 18th February 2017, Matlock Town Football Club donated £500, to Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA).
The donation was raised on 21st January 2017 when Ian Taylor, a supporter of Matlock Town Football Club, suffered a heart attack. DLRAA was called out to provide assistance and landed on the football pitch. An impromptu collection was held that afternoon after a delayed start to the match, with all proceeds donated to DLRAA.
Volunteers Richard, Grace and Julie Fletcher and Charmaine Wilkins, Derbyshire community representatives for DLRAA, were invited to hold a further collection on the 18th February, raising awareness of a campaign for more volunteers as well as fundraising. This raised a further £401.89.
Richard said: “I was delighted to be part of this truly inspirational day. Their passion and support for our service is fantastic and to hear Ian’s story and his remarkable recovery was amazing. We would like to thank all the staff and customers for the generosity and fantastic support they have given.
The Belper and Matlock supporter group are calling for more volunteers to help raise money this year. If you are interested please get in touch with the charity’s head office on 0300 30 45 999 to find out more.
