Our Supporter Thank Yous – July
Summer is well underway and although June was a classic British start to the season with rain, rain and more rain, July has proven to be slightly more promising with sunshine and heatwaves. Lucky for us, this has meant our supporters have done some fantastic work to help us help those who truly need us. Here’s a big thank you to everyone involved in this month’s fundraising;
DHL International (UK) Telesales
Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance would like to say a huge thank you to DHL International (UK) Telesales who, as a department, have donated a tremendous £9,738.56 for us over the last year. They have had a great time raising the money too, splitting into 7 teams and having monthly competitions to see who could raise the most money and have held events such as Sponsored Walks, Bingo, Cake Sales, Raffles, Tombola’s, Wolf Runs, Games and a 5 mile Run.
The total raised through the fundraising was £8,538.56. However, they applied for a DHL match it donation, where DHL will give a maximum of £1,200 on top of the money raised. They were delighted to receive the full £1,200, which took the total to £9,738.56.
We are incredibly grateful for all of their support.

The donation came through holding a Grand Charity Concert at the beautiful St Mary’s Church in Wirksworth on 22nd June 2019. Côr Meibion Colwyn (Colwyn Male Voice Choir) provided a truly amazing concert.

Kenny Rogers Beard Shave
Something that started off as a bet in the pub, turned in to a phenomenal fundraising effort. Kenny Rogers has grown his beard for a whole year, and then had it shaved off at The Bell Inn Gumley who hosted the event for him – it involved an auction (of wax strips) and bucket collections on the night.
The final amount raised is currently over £4300 which is amazing and we can’t thank everyone involved enough, especially Kenny.
Stacey Randall attended a meeting with Marion at Tata Steel in Corby, where she completed a cheque presentation for a wonderful recent donation of £5,000 to The Air Ambulance Service.
The monies were donated by the members of the Corby Employee Benevolent Scheme which has now ended. The Scheme has been in existence for several decades and was originally set up to support employees in times of illness. Due to the support employees now receive from the Company, this scheme is no longer a necessity.
A massive Thank you to all who contributed to this wonderful donation.
Liz Granby and Theresa Jennison
Rebecca Truman – Swimathon
Rebecca Truman witnessed our crew attending to a medical emergency. Watching them assisting the patient was something she found incredibly inspirational and Rebecca decided that she wanted to raise money for us through some fundraising. Last year the children at the 2 sports centres Rebecca teaches at did a sponsored swim, and this year they did it again. Due to Rebecca’s experience in seeing us first hand, they decided to make us one of the 3 chosen charities that would benefit from the money raised.
Over 100 children took part in the swim and between them they raised an incredible £4,966.87. This was shared between 3 charities, meaning DLRAA received a superb £1,709.98, which covers the cost of a mission.
We are very grateful to be one of the chosen charities and are very grateful to all of the children that took part, and the instructors that arranged the event.
