Our Supporter Thank Yous – April

This month we’ve seen many changes with the Easter break kicking-off Spring weather, and our fabulous supporters and volunteers were out and about raising awareness of our incredible charity.  Here is a roundup of this month’s Thank Yous.

Coventry Building Society

We held a bucket collection at the Ricoh Arena on Good Friday (19th April 2019). The distribution department at Coventry Building Society, who have chosen us as charity of the year, provided us with 7 staff members to assist with the collection, along with two other local volunteers. We’d like to thank them all for their time and for raising such a fantastic amount of money which totalled just over £669 – we hope you enjoyed the game!

Swanspool Veterinary Clinic

The wonderful staff and customers at Swanspool Veterinary clinic in Wellingborough have raised a fantastic £512 for WNAA through quiz nights, client information evenings, raffles and direct donations. Thank you to everyone who has donated and given their time to support us.

Gary Jefford & the Old Red Lion Skittles

Gary Jefford and the old Red Lion Skittles team have raised a wonderful £3,263.85 by completing a 24 hours Skittle Marathon along with a raffle and auction. Our Community Fundraising Officer Stacey Randall, Stuart King and Keith Brown attended the opening night for the Skittles Marathon and even took part in a game! Gary and the team had fantastic support from local businesses and the community with donations, prizes for the auction/raffle and have started the fundraising for next year already. Thank you for all the generous donations from everyone involved.

Wheeldon Brother’s Construction

Huge thanks to the Wheeldon Brother’s who sold their old sales cabin and chose to donate the proceeds to 5 charities with £1,500 given to us. We were chosen by Edward Parkin, Land Director for Wheeldon Brothers Construction and can’t thank them enough for their generous offering.

Evelyn Taylor

Thank you to 12 year old Evelyn Taylor, who raised money for DLRAA by getting sponsored for having 12” cut off her hair. She raised an amazing £411.70 and also donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, who provide wigs to children and adults suffering from hair loss; meaning two charities benefited from her incredible gesture. Pictured is Evelyn and her parents. Evelyn even wrote the cheque herself. We are beyond grateful for her support.

Ian Redfern & Les Harrison

We are saying a big thank you to Ian Redfern & Les Harrison 2019 for raising £1018.50 who decided they would support the DLRAA in very unique way. Ian & Les decided in April 2018 they would grow a beard for two charities close to their hearts and have the beard shaved off on 31/12/18. They obtained sponsorship and raised £2037.00. Ian & Les decided they would split the money. Les choose the DLRAA & Ian Choose Cardiac care unit Derby Royal Hospital following treatment for Kay Redfern.

Warwick Rotary Club

We were kindly invited to the Warwick Rotary lunch with Andre Klein – the General Manager at Warwick Racecourse. He’s bravely running the Virgin London Marathon for us at the end of April. President Elect David Brain presented a cheque for £200.00  at the lunch which will go towards Andre’s final target. We wish Andre the best of luck for the run and send thanks to the club for their kind donation.

Boylestone Ladies Group

Thank you to this wonderful group who raised an impressive £2,000 from a Scarecrow Festival with one member then donating a further £144 to us. The inspiration for the fundraising is that some of their members have actually been airlifted by the Air Ambulance Service so feel very passionate about our cause.
