dlc complete three peaks challenge
An intrepid team of mountain climbers from dlc UK have raised just over £1,500 for Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance after completing the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge.
The Three Peaks Challenge is an exciting attempt to climb three of the highest peaks in Scotland, Wales and England within 24 hours.

Despite getting lost and battling snow, ice and lack of sunlight, the team managed an amazing walk time of just 15 hours 30 minutes.
Daniel Baston, one of the courageous trekkers, offered a look into the difficulties and rewards of the challenge after the first peak had already been conquered:
“After a long journey with what little sleep we could get we set off to Scafell pike at 02:00. At this point we lost another member of the team as a hip injury stopped them from being able to pick up their leg. In the darkness we found the route challenging, without a defined path and with an ill placed magnet throwing off the compass, we soon got lost. Or so we thought. On review we had made it to the halfway point on the mountain and were only a few hundred meters north of where we were meant to be, but without the ability to see further than 20m we made the call to come down. After sunrise we found where we had to go, but with the choice between Snowdon and the rest of Scafell the group chose Snowdon. We returned to the minibus at 5:00 and set out to Wales.”
At 11:00 we began our ascent of Snowdon. Unfortunately the walk around Scafell had flared up an old car crash injury for one of the party so they decided to drop out at this point. A wise choice given the unrelenting stairs that lead to the summit. We made the top at 14:30 and after a quick photo and snack were back on our way to the base. We managed to reach the base at 17:00 making our total walk time 15 hours and 30 minutes, which is not too far off our aim of 14 hours.”
“After a celebratory pint we made it back to dlc at 22:30. As it stands we have raised just over £1,500 for the air ambulance, and we all have a great sense of achievement especially as some of the party had never been up a mountain before.”
A big thank you from everyone at Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance for taking on the challenge and raising so much money for their lifesaving service. The JustGiving page for dlc’s challenge can be found here, with a complete list of those who took part.
