Country Chic Shindig raises £8,000 for DLRAA
Two Leicestershire supports have raised an incredible £8,000 in just six weeks after they organised and held a Country Chic Shindig.
The girls, Olivia Parry and Sophie Cullumbine, set themselves the task of organising an event for 250 people in just six weeks, and raised the amazing amount of money through ticket sales and a raffle on the night of the Shindig, which took place in October 2014.
Olivia and Sophie set out to support Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance last year, after the service was called out to Olivia’s step-mum after she had a horse riding accident. Sadly, Olivia’s step-mum passed away following the accident. The girls have been fundraising for DLRAA in her memory.
Sophie Burt from DLRAA commented “£8,000 is an amazing sum of money to be raised at a charity event! I know how much hard work and effort goes in to organising an event such as the Country Chic Shindig and DLRAA is incredibly grateful for their support. £8,000 will pay for nearly five missions which is an incredible achievement. DLRAA receive no government funding and so supporters such as Olivia and Sophie are invaluable.”
