Thank you All Saints Junior School, Matlock
Members of Arkwright House chose the local air ambulance as their charity of the year. The children explain what they did to raise over £900 and how they did it:
“At the start of our school year, we chose the Air Ambulance Service as our House Charity. This was because the dad of two members of Arkwright’s was air lifted, after a life-threatening bike accident.
During the year we sold delicious apples, which were grown in our school grounds and raised £11.15.
Next, we raised money by having an awesome Wear Wellies for Hellies Day. Everybody in our school came in wearing wellies or boots for a £1. There were lots of different activities on the special day – Wang a Welly, Decorate a Wellie, both a kids and adults raffle. The top adult raffle prize was an amazing F-Type Jaguar for a weekend, this was generously donated by Jaguar of Derby. At the end of the day we found out that we raised £715.30.
In June 2016, we held a Coppers for Choppers event. The whole school took home a money bag and filled it with coppers and silver coins. On the day of the event, we drew a giant letter H on the bottom playground. We did the letter H as a symbol of a Helipad. The Year three and four pupils in Arkwright, led by the House and Vice-Captains, all helped to fill it in and raised £179.48.
In the whole year we raised £905.93 and we enjoyed all the fun events. Arkwright hopes the money raised helps to save lives.
