Thank You Richard’s Rambling Rogues
Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance are saying a big thank you to Richard’s Rambling Rogues, a walking group, after they raised enough money to pay for a lifesaving mission.
As part of his birthday celebrations Graham Bonsal organised a sponsored walk for Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance on behalf of his friend Richard Monk who was terminally ill with cancer.
Over 40 people took part starting from the Boat Inn at Cromford and calling in at DLRAA’s Belper boutique before heading for The Angel micropub in Belper and on to The White Hart at Bargate followed by the Dead Poets at Holbrook – obviously very thirsty work! From there the walkers continued to the Bell & Harp at Little Eaton, ending the walk at The Three Horse Shoes at Morley Smithy. One participant decided to run and completed 17.5 miles in just over 2 hours.
The magnificent sum of £1,860.00 was raised by the fantastic effort of the group.
Keith Murfin, community representative for Derbyshire and Julie Wells, manager of the Belper shop were there for the cheque presentation and would like to give a huge thanky ou to all concerned on behalf of DLRAA and also on a personal level for the warmth and hospitality shown to us.
Sadly Richard has recently passed away peacefully. The thoughts of the air ambulance staff and volunteers are with his wife and family.
