DHL ‘delivers’ over £9,000 to local air ambulance

The team at DHL International (UK) Telesales answered the call when they raised £9,738.56 for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA).

With DLRAA as their chosen charity of the year, the DHL Telesales department, based at East Midlands Airport, set themselves the challenge to raise as much money possible over a year through a number of activities and events.nnThey split their department into seven teams and had monthly competitions to see who could raise the most. They held activities such as sponsored walks, bingo, cake sales, raffles, tombola’s, Wolf Runs, and even a five mile run around the airport which is home to the DLRAA Helicopter.

The total raised through their fundraising was £8,538.56. However, they applied for a DHL “match it donation” and were delighted to receive £1,200, which took the total to £9,738.56.nnHead of Direct Sales Channel Louise Goode commented: “We chose to support the local air ambulance as some of the team’s family members were rescued by the crews and will forever be grateful for the work the charity does. “We are aware that they provide a vital service which is run solely on donations and we think that they’re a fantastic charity that could save your life one day.”

Community Fundraising Executive for DLRAA Lee Bunting commented, “DHL have regularly donated to us through fundraising and we’re blown away by their support. Fundraising events like these are fundamental in keeping us saving lives and we are so grateful to them for all that they do to help. It’s important to enjoy yourself when raising money, and the team at DHL certainly did that.”
