Derbyshire Pub Raises over £3K for Local Air Ambulance

Staff and customers of the George and Dragon pub in Clay Cross, Derbyshire, have raised an incredible £3,372.04 for their local air ambulance.

Each year, George and Dragon proprietors Daniel and Mo select a charity of the year and this year, having previously supported us in 2012, they selected our Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA).

They set about raising funds by placing a tin on their bar and by creating a calendar of fundraising events and activities. These included Raffles, auctions (including a flight in a helicopter), race nights, comedy nights and a ‘name the teddy’ competition.

DLRAA representative Lee Bunting commented:

“Daniel and Mo clearly have a real passion for raising funds for charity and put a lot of time and effort into all of the events that they do. On the few occasions I’ve met with them, they’ve always been so welcoming and been excited to share what they have planned. It’s so generous of them to support us with such a large amount of money – Thank you so much”.

Daniel Lane, landlord of the George and Dragon, added:

“In 2012 we were able to raise £3,175 for our local air ambulance and I am delighted we have been able to raise even more this time around.

“I would like to thank all of the local businesses and our customers that have supported us in raising this amount of money for such a worthy cause”.
