Derbyshire group raises vital funds to support local lifesaving charity
The North Derbyshire South Road Federation of Racing Pigeons have raised funds to support the lifesaving missions of the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA).
The North Derbyshire South Road Federation of Racing Pigeons held a charity sale during 2024 with forty-four birds donated by fanciers from across the UK. The auction was held by Whitby Stray Centre and raised a total of £2,216.70 to support the charity’s lifesaving missions.
“We would like to say thank you to all the donors and buyers for supporting our charity sale and to the Whitby Stray Centre for conducting the sale,” said Steve Shimwell, Secretary of the North Derbyshire South Road Federation of Racing Pigeons.
“We are incredibly proud to be able to support a vital local charity and with our donation they will be able to keep their helicopter flying,” he added.
The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance crews deliver critical care at road traffic collisions, sports events, medical emergencies – such as cardiac arrest and accidents at home – and other incidents needing expert pre-hospital medical interventions.
Tracey Jones, Community Fundraising Executive for Derbyshire said:
“I would like to say a big thank you to Steve and everyone involved in the North Derbyshire South Road Federation of Racing Pigeons for raising funds to support our charity.”
“We receive no government or National Lottery funding, so rely on donations and support from the local community and businesses just like this so our crews can be available 24/7, 365 days a year to administer lifesaving pre-hospital care to those who need it most,” she expressed.
