Derbyshire club raises vital funds to support lifesaving charity
Heanor Conny Club from Derbyshire are raising vital funds to support the lifesaving missions of the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA).
During 2024 the club are challenging themselves to raise as much as they possibly can to support the vital charity and started off by assisting Paul Grint aka Stixx with a charity wrestling match, raising £420 – the charity’s very own mascot Blade even made an appearance in the ring.
The club have recently held their own fundraiser including a beer & cider festival, bouncy castle, BBQ, tombola, cake sale and an auction with prizes up for grabs such as tickets to Alton Towers, Legoland, Snowdome and Flamingo Land – raising a total of £2,569.
“This year as a committee we decided we would support the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance as this fantastic charity helps to save so many lives. We have raised a fantastic amount so far this year and have even more events planned for the rest of this year such as, a race night, table top sale, quiz night, guess the movie night and more,” said Heanor Conny Club member Ian Sharpe.
“Thank you to everyone who has helped us to reach the total amount raised so far, together we are helping to keep their helicopters flying,” he added.
The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance crew are available 24/7, 365 days per year, providing lifesaving pre-hospital care to those who need it the most. The charity receives no government or National Lottery funding and relies solely on generous donations from its supporters to fund its vital missions – without this they wouldn’t be able to continue their lifesaving missions across Derbyshire and further afield.
Molly Norton, Community Fundraising Relationship Executive for the charity said:
“On behalf of the charity I would like to say thank you to everyone involved in the Heanor Conny Club for the amazing amount they have raised to support our lifesaving missions.”
“We wouldn’t be able to continue our lifesaving missions without the support from the local community and businesses, and with one mission costing £2,300, every penny they have raised will help us to save more lives in Derbyshire and further afield,” she expressed.
