Derbyshire business raises £2,000 to support local lifesaving charity

The Lockwood Group have raised £2,000 to support the lifesaving missions of the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA).

The Lockwood Group is a family-owned business headquartered in Ambergate, Derbyshire with additional depots located in Denby, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Doncaster, South Wales, and Essex. The company’s services include haulage, storage, and contract packing, providing comprehensive logistics and supply chain solutions across various locations in the UK.

The Derbyshire business recently held a golf day to raise funds to support the lifesaving missions of the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance after the crew came to the aid of a colleague suffered a cardiac arrest. They raised a total of £2,000 and have chosen to support the charity again in 2025, selecting them as their charity partner.

“One of our warehouse operatives, Brian suffered a cardiac arrest, and it was thanks to the swift action of our own first-aid trained staff and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance crew that he survived,” said Sarah, HR Director at Lockwood Group.

“We held a golf day to raise funds to support the charity as they receive no government or National Lottery funding for their lifesaving missions. We wanted to show them that we are deeply grateful for their heroic efforts and can’t wait to support them again in 2025,” she added.

The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance crews deliver critical care at road traffic collisions, sports events, medical emergencies – such as cardiac arrest and accidents at home – and other incidents needing expert pre-hospital medical interventions.

They receive no government or National Lottery funding for their lifesaving missions and rely on the local community and businesses to help them raise the much needed £2,300 for each mission.

Tracey Jones, Community Fundraising Executive for Derbyshire said:

“On behalf of the charity I would like to say thank you to the Lockwood Group for raising funds to support our lifesaving missions in Derbyshire and further afield.”

“We rely on support from the local community and businesses to raise the much-needed funds for each mission and we couldn’t continue to keep our helicopters flying without this,” she expressed.
