David’s journey to recovery began on a freezing November morning in 2022, just minutes into his daily commute when he suffered a devastating head-on collision.
“David had multiple life-threatening injuries, and time was critical,” recalls Matt, the paramedic who arrived at the scene in just seven minutes thanks to your support. With his injuries including fractures to his neck, pelvis, ribs, and a severe brain injury, the immediate intervention of our team was essential. “We gave David emergency anaesthesia, blood transfusions, and pain relief, allowing us to stabilise him until he reached the Major Trauma Centre.”
David’s fiancée, Rachel, remembers the moment vividly: “It was such a shock, but we knew the critical care team were fantastic and had saved him that day.”
After months in critical care and rehabilitation, David defied the odds. A year later, on the very day of his accident, David and Rachel turned tragedy into joy by getting married. “David owes his life to the critical care team. From being given 48 hours to live, to living a normal life—it’s a miracle.” Rachel says.
Our crews respond to emergencies like David’s every day, often in remote locations, and each mission costs an average of £2,300. Unlike the NHS, our service is funded entirely by voluntary donations. With the festive season upon us and demand higher than ever, we need your help to keep flying.
Just £10 could cover two miles of flight toward critical care, and every donation brings us closer to saving another life. Please help us continue to make a difference this Christmas.

Your donations helped us reach over 3,500 people who needed our help in 2023. Each mission costs over £2,300, but your donation today, whatever the amount, will ensure we help more people in their time of need like David.
If 100 people like you, gave just £23, we can fund another lifesaving mission to save someone like David.
