Born in the late 70’s, I spent most of my childhood in an industrial Northamptonshire town. When I was 21 years old I began experiencing pain in my hands, wrists and knees. The pain worsened to the point where my mobility was very limited and I received a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. This was devastating for me as a young woman. I was just starting my career as a fundraiser when I had my first round of surgeries. I was incredibly lucky, with surgery, medication and ongoing treatment. That experience has taught me to never make assumptions about anyone, you never know what other people are facing. EDI for me is about fairness. About making sure that we are fair to and respectful of everyone and our organisation is a beacon for that and I am proud to be a part of it.
